A story

A story ... it's true of course

I told you it wasn't just the breeze through the trees.

Can you see them?

Up there....

right at the top ...

gathered together on that branch,

lined up like books in a library.... which is fitting.....

All sorts: Ugly ducklings; Sparrows with bows and arrows; robins watching them warily; blue birds;

blackbirds straight from a pie; never birds who've flown straight on till morning.

They're all there, murmuring..... not only the starlings. Tho they are there too.... 'the mrs, meself and the boys'.

They've flown straight off the pages of books from the shelves of libraries.

It has to be said they're an unlikely assortment.... All kinds... Like us I suppose.........

Some classical, straight from the Gods ......

others from Yorkshire.

About to set out on a dangerous mission.

Off to spread the word that books and birds have

much in common.......

that words, like birds, take flight........

Shhhhhh did you hear  anything?

Was it the breeze through the trees? ......

There are those out there who kill birds ....remember Kes ........and others who rustle paper.

Take care book-birds ....

We wish you well.
